- I also bought a 486-33 local bus system from Zenon. The motherboard is a
- 'Companion' board manufactured by Join Data. I also got the S3 local bus
- video (without the IDE controller). I eventually returned it for a refund,
- due to apparently unsolvable problems with the Colorado Memory Systems
- tape drive. They would not allow me to return the monitor however, as
- it had been 'special ordered'.
-
-
- I replaced the system with a slightly better one (better case, power
- supply, keyboard, and the integrated S3 video/IDE controller) from Royal.
- Royal's system used the same 'Companion' motherboard. However, although
- I have still had a few problems with the CMS tape drive (actually, the
- cable), it does format a tape.
-
- I don't know if I got a bum motherboard from Zenon or what, but the
- service and tech support from Royal was superior.
-
- Good luck!
