- I recently bought a Maxtor 7213A IDE disk and ran into problems installing it
- on my 486/33 clone with AMI bios dated 5-5-91 (using DOS 5.0). At first
- when trying to partition the disk with fdisk (or something else) the disk got
- stuck. After turning the external and internal cache off in the cmos I managed
- to partition and format the disk. But problems still remain. Very regularly
- the disk stops for a while when writing (about ten seconds). It then continues
- the write action or gives an error message `not ready writing drive C`. I have
- used the correct disk parameters ( 683x16x38 ) and the jumpers are set allright.
- Anyone any ideas?
- Please email me at jjolive@cs.vu.nl, thanks in advance.
