  11. I recently bought a Maxtor 7213A IDE disk and ran into problems installing it 
  12. on my 486/33 clone with AMI bios dated 5-5-91 (using DOS 5.0). At first 
  13. when trying to partition the disk with fdisk (or something else) the disk got 
  14. stuck. After turning the external and internal cache off in the cmos I managed 
  15. to partition and format the disk. But problems still remain. Very regularly 
  16. the disk stops for a while when writing (about ten seconds). It then continues 
  17. the write action or gives an error message `not ready writing drive C`. I have 
  18. used the correct disk parameters ( 683x16x38 ) and the jumpers are set allright.
