  27.     Just last week, I got the AMI Fast Disk EISA SCSI Caching
  28. Controller.  It's fabulous!  It has it's own 386SX/16 chip on the
  29. board to controll all I/O functions, and you can use regular SIMMS for
  30. cache in steps of 1/4/16MB, unlike the DPT.  The DPT uses proprietary
  31. memory, so if you want to upgrade the memory, you have to go back to
  32. them to get it, which costs mucho $$$.. :-(   It's cheapest if you buy
  33. the AMI straight out, with no memory for $700, and then add your own
  34. SIMMS, from your favorite SIMM vendor.  It comes with a well
  35. documented manual, and drivers for just about everything.  If
  36. performance is what you want, the AMI is what you need.  You can't
  37. beat having a 386 chip on the controller!!
