- Just last week, I got the AMI Fast Disk EISA SCSI Caching
- Controller. It's fabulous! It has it's own 386SX/16 chip on the
- board to controll all I/O functions, and you can use regular SIMMS for
- cache in steps of 1/4/16MB, unlike the DPT. The DPT uses proprietary
- memory, so if you want to upgrade the memory, you have to go back to
- them to get it, which costs mucho $$$.. :-( It's cheapest if you buy
- the AMI straight out, with no memory for $700, and then add your own
- SIMMS, from your favorite SIMM vendor. It comes with a well
- documented manual, and drivers for just about everything. If
- performance is what you want, the AMI is what you need. You can't
- beat having a 386 chip on the controller!!
