- Hello,
- I have been considering buying a DX/50 system with local bus.
- Ideally, I would like to have local bus Video and a local bus IDE disk
- controller.
- One of the vendors that I have been talking to, Zenon, says that they
- have a VESA local bus for their 486 systems. However, for the DX50
- system, they are only able to use the local bus video card in the system,
- relegating the IDE disk controller to the 16 bit ISA bus. He "explained"
- that this was only a problem with the dx50 system. DX33 systems could
- have both video controller and IDE disk controller on the local bus.
- He seemed to indicate that this was a universal problem (other vendors
- will try to sell me the dual local bus configuration, but they will have
- problems, the system will lock up).
- Not that I doubt the veracity of this individual, but this statement does
- sound somewhat self serving.
- If anyone has any info on this problem please respond via email (or post
- if you prefer, I'll read it).
- And if anyone has any information on Royal Computer or Zenon Computer about
- their products and support please respond also.
- Thank you for your help.
- Sincerely
- Steve Fullenkamp
