  24. I have a question about 1 MB SIMMs, also.  I have a 386SX-25 that currently
  25. has (2) 1 MB, 70 ns 3-chip SIMMs.  The documentation for the motherboard
  26. says it requires 80 ns page mode SIMMs.  I know there was a discussion
  27. on 3-chip SIMMs a while back but I didn't pay attention to it because
  28. I didn't think it would apply to me.  (If only I knew!)

  30. I know you shouldn't add SIMMs that are slower than the ones already on a 
  31. board, but what if the ones on the board are faster than what is needed?

  33. Can I mix and match 3-chip and 9-chip SIMMs?

  35. What is this "page mode", as it applies to SIMMs?  I learned about the
  36. various memory strategies in my computer architecture class a few years
  37. ago but when I added memory to my other system, I just asked for 1 MB X 9, 
  38. 80 ns SIMMs and didn't have any problems.

  40. I have a choice between buying 80 ns 9-chip SIMMs locally or buying the
  41. same type SIMMs by mail order from the place that sold me the motherboard.
  42. If it is possible, I'd prefer to buy local in case I get some bad SIMMs.
  43. Please mail responses, as my computer is useless until I get the memory.
