  12. I am having problems with the following ESDI configuration:

  15.   model ST2383E
  16.   size  337M
  17.   head  7
  18.   cyl   1747
  19.   spt   54
  20.  
  21.  
  22. Controller:
  23.   model WD1007A-WA2
  24.   mode  WD1005-WAH
  25.   sector translation enabled
  26.

  28. The problem is that when the drive is accessed the computer locks-up for
  29. about a short time, and then it works.  An example to demonstrate the
  30. problem:
  31.  
  32. 1.  Time to low-level format:     8hrs
  33.     Time for a surface analysis:  60hrs
  34.     Time for a DOS format:        8hrs
  35.  
  36. There is obviously something drastically wrong here, but I don't know what
  37. it is at the moment.

  39. Has anyone got this combination successfully functional before?
