- Hello everyone. I'm having some problems with my Trident video card. I'm
- using a 486/50 with a TVGA-8900C card with 1MB dram. I have been using windows
- 3.1 with the win 3.0 800x600x256c driver for 1 meg baords without a problem...
- untill 2 days ago. Whenever I run the program in 800x600 for more then 15
- minutes and then try to switch back to standard 25x80 character display... as
- in when exiting Windows to go to dos. The screen either dances with thousands
- of colors or it goes completely blank. At this point the machine refuses to
- boot back up...even when turned off and on again. I need to wait about 10
- minutes and then the machine will power up agiain. I am firmly convinced it is
- the video card because the BIOS in the card is the first thing loaded in the
- machine which would explain why the computer just sits there after I try and
- reboot. I also get a shadowed/distorted display when I pop up a Dos session
- full screen. It then locks when I go close the session and go back to windows.
- I have SW3 set for the 48.7KHz scan rate for non-interlaced operation.
- Does anyone have any ideas what the problem/solution is? I'm convined that it
- is defective. And that it just occurs after the board heats up. I have been
- using this configuration reliably for almost a year. I have tried to reseat
- the card into another slot, but with no results.
- Since, Trident doesn't bother to include their techinacal support number in
- their user manual I would appreciate if someone could give me the number.
- Thanks in advance.
