- For those of you who receive the MicroProse newsletter, you can skip
- this message. I'm drawing my 'facts' straight from the latest issue.
- According to MicroProse (or, don't blame me if the game turns out
- otherwise), F-15 Strike Eagle III will be "light years" ahead of any
- other flight simulator they've released in terms of visuals. It will
- combine 3-D polygons with bit-mapped images (explosions and such, I
- assume). They've also used a CAD program to design various objects
- for an all-new introductory sequence and other parts of the game (no
- specific mention of which parts).
- The article I read stated that the emphasis would be on dogfighting
- (no real surprise there), but there were a couple of statements which
- implied that strike missions would be available (sorry, can't remember
- what they were).
- What I found most interesting was the statement that with a modem
- or direct link, two people could play as...
-
- - Dogfighting opponents
- - Pilot and RIO (WSO, GIB, or whatever)
- - Lead and wingman
-
- That's right, you and a friend can actually fly together, in separate
- F-15s, on a mission (and then try to shoot each other down on the way
- home, of course).
- There wasn't much more than that. I'm going to try calling MicroProse
- today for more information; if the call proves fruitful, I'll follow
- up with another post. You can pre-order F-15 III by calling the company's
- toll-free number, and the game is set for a "Fall release" (no month given).
- That's about it.
