- It has been quite a while since I played the game but here are some tips
- that I remember.
-
- * Learn to use your lance. I found it very difficult to knock down
- opponents with my dragon's breath on the later levels so I practiced
- a lot with the lance.
-
- * Watch your six. Most of my deaths in the beginning came from dragons
- dropping on top of me or breathing at me from behind. Learn to switch
- views quickly and practice dodging away from breath attacks from behind
- while looking backwards.
-
- * Altitude is your friend. As I mentioned above, I died a lot from attacks
- from above. Learn to disengage yourself from a battle (which basically
- entails running away while dodging breath attacks) so that you can gain
- some extra height and then swoop back down on your opponents.
-
- The game, however, does seem to be a tough one, and I found many of the
- later levels very difficult. Though I don't have the specific details
- anymore on how to cheat in the game, if you have a hex calculator and
- are handy with a disk editor with Norton Utilities, you shouldn't have
- any problem hacking the save game files if you know what to look for.
- To be specific, write down the hit points for both you and your dragon
- in any particular game and also write down the number of healing potions
- you have. Convert those numbers to hex values and search through that
- particular saved game file until you find a section with all those
- values clustered together. I found increasing the number of healing
- potions the most useful since hit points can only go to 255 (if memory
- serves me), but 255 healing potions is effectively worth much more than
- 255 hit points.
