- I had my HP48 engraved with my last name across the front plate on the right,
- just above where it says "scientific expandable. The jeweler I took it to
- was able to engrave the calculator with his standard equipment and it looks
- very good. I am an engineering student and had my HP15C stolen a couple of
- years ago. A lot of the 15C's were floating around so there was no possible
- way of telling (short of checking every serial #) whether or not someone
- in my classes had taken it. With my name on the HP48, I will avoid such
- situations, it may even deter someone from stealing it, since my name is
- clearly visible on the face of the calculator from several seats away.
-
- With all the HP48's out there, especially in engineering schools, it
- only makes sense. It cost me $3.00, a small price to pay considering
- cards and all my HP48 cost well over $300.00
-
- Just my $0.02
