- | We've recently acquired a Wren 7 disk (1.2G Seagate ST41200N/IMPRIMIS 94601-15)

- | have doesn't want to write to it (well, at least not *most* of the time).
- |
- | I have managed to mediainit it (no problems) and fsck a filesystem created
- | on a 720, but when I try to newfs it on the 817 I get:
- |
- | write error: 1013774
- | wtfs: Invalid Argument
- |
- | My /etc/disktab has the following entry added to it:
- |
- | WREN7:\
- | :ty=winchester:ns#35:nt#15:nc#1931:rm#3600:\
- | :s0#1013775:b0#8192:f0#1024:\
- [ s1-s15 are the same ]
- |
- | Specifying only the s2 parition produces the same result.
- |
- | The following entry works on the 720:
- |
- | WREN7:\
- | : 1.2G drive:ns#35:nt#15:nc#1931:\
- | :s0#1013775:b0#8192:f0#1024:\

- yep.

- If you compare the output of /etc/diskinfo -v <raw_device> on a s700 and a s800
- you will see, that the values given for "blocks per disk" differ.
- The s700 shows one block more than the s800.
- Setting the partition size to 1013774 for s2 should do the job.
- You can use that disk on s700 and on s800 systems.
-
- Btw, mkfs will set different rotdelay values (see tunefs(1M)) on s700 and
- s800 (trying different values by hand may give you the best performance).
-
-
- Hope that helps,
- Christian
