- When I had this problem and talked to the HP response center they told
- me that processes in an "I/O wait" state would not respond to signals.

- The way it seemed to happen on our system was when a dialed in user was
- disconnected due to line noise while they were in the middle of doing a
- file transfer or in the Korn Shell's edit mode.
