  14. this is the first unix system in many, many years which has given the

  17. if you su to change uid, you can type the entire passwd before the Password:
  18. prompt and have it work.

  20. while not an outright 'bug', it is unusual. su behaviour as i remember it in 
  21. 5.X, 7.X and bsd systems has stdin fflushed before reading they did it for a 
  22. reason, if the password is accepted BEFORE the prompt, people tend to type it 
  23. in before the prompt without waiting and thus it gets echoed on the screen.

  25. i actually imagine this to be a bug in getpass(3).
