  11. We are trying to install some xterms to our net, and having several
  12. problems.

  14. So far, the server tapes loaded fine, and changes were made to the master
  15. NIS server for services, hosts, passwd, and group.

  17. When we try to configure the terminal via xtadm, we got the following
  18. message:

  20. dobootpstuff:  /usr/tftpdir/usr/lib/X11/700X/config/rx700.cfg: cannot create
  21.  
  22. Anyway, when we tested the installation of software test, a message saying
  23. file C2708A couldn't be retrieved from server -- check routing table for
  24. the host machine popped up.  We didn't include any subnet/gateway in the
  25. config, since the host and the xterm are both on the same subnet, and shouldn't
  26. require a gateway to talk to each other.

  28. Subsequently, checking bootp via xtadm ALSO failed (bootp servers not 
  29. responding).  All the entries are present for inetd.conf and services,
  30. but it still fails. (bootpd does not show up under ps either)

  32. Is there something we are overlooking in the installation?

  34. The file server is a 720 running 8.07, and the server tape version
  35. is B.03.00.
