- : 1. When the 835 starts up, it prints a message
- : "/etc/POWERFAIL is disabled on machines with SCSI interface"
-
- Did you have a question about this? BTW, this restriction is removed
- for the HP-UX 9.0 release.
-
- : 2. The manuals strongly recommend that you bring the machine down to
- : single-user before doing backups, so the performance on a heavily
- : loaded SCSI is not a significant issue.
-
- Yeah, the decision I refered to above was a broad response that does not
- serve every case. This is recognized within HP and people are looking
- at what can be done. Note I am not promising that anything will be
- done.
-
- : 3. The manuals give no warning of this state of affairs. All they say
- : (Installing Peripherals, Vol.1 P1-23) is "use of 3rd party peripherals is
- : discouraged and not supported by H-P's standard support process". But the
- : tape I was trying to use is NOT a 3rd party device, it is made by H-P.
-
- The tape is from HP but (as I understand your situation) the device
- you're trying to use to read the tape is not from HP.
-
- : 4 Also ... what are the supported devices?
-
- Please contact your official HP sales rep for this info. The support
- list varies by system model and HP-UX release and I'd probably blow it
- if I tried to post some subset.
