  12. BTW, What most people have in their houses is "split phase", not "two phase".
  13. The former is derived from a single transformer winding with 240v from
  14. end to end and a center tap, which is the grounded neutral.  "Two phase" is
  15. a setup that requires 3 or 4 wires and generator windings that are electricly
  16. 90 degrees out of phase.  It is only used in very old industrial plants
  17. anymore.
