- I've never used a high density 5.25" drive, but a friend once gave me some
- disks that he had formatted on a HD drive, and I was surprised that the
- PC-Compat I use at work was able to read them. He explained that he had
- used a utility that double-tracked when formatting or copying to a 360K
- disk in a 1.2M drive. Sort of like a 9-pin printer producing NLQ print,
- it would format or write the track, then step over slightly and re-write the
- same data. That way, it produced a fat track that was compatible with
- DD devices.
-
- I've never seen this utility, and have no idea what its name might be,
- but maybe someone else knows more.
