- Fellow 3B2 users:
-
- Over the last year and a half, I have been porting p.d. software to the
- 3B2/500's that I am in charge of. Before coming here, I knew little c and no
- Unix, so the transition was challenging. Now, after I have become somewhat
- more adept at porting to this machine, I am wondering if there is any interest
- out there for me to put my binaries, sources, whatever out on an anonymous ftp
- site somewhere. The packages I have ported so far include:
-
- perl - Practical Extraction and Report Language
- month - A visual monthly calendar and time/event browser
- elm - The elm mailer from the USENET Community Trust (very nice mail package)
- vilearn - Tutorial to learn the vi editor
- shar/unshar - Used to create/unpack shar archives
- fping - Taken from comp.sources, pings many hosts in quick succession
- bison - GNU project parser generator (replaces yacc)
- f2c - Fortran to C conversion program
- gcc - GNU project C compiler
- uuencode/uudecode - exactly what it says (my system didn't have these)
- uvapc - University of Virginia pascal compiler
- patch - Applies diff style patches to source code
- iozone - Tests the speed of sequential I/O on the system
- archie - Archie client written in C
- watcher - Watches the system, reporting problems on parameters you set
- diskhog - Monitors the system for excessive disk usage
- man - Public domain version of man (UNI's too cheap to pop for man pages)
- talk - BSD 4.3 compatible version of talk
- lpr - Lpr client only, since I have no printer for these machines
- phone - Like talk, except can only be used on same machine (looks nicer than
- talk)
- tar - Public domain tar utility
- tcl - Tool command language
- tcsh - Public domain enhanced version of the csh
-
-
- Let me know if there is any interest in getting these out on a site somewhere.
- I don't know how much porting you other 3B2 guru's have done, so these ports
- may have been trivial. If there is sufficient interest, I will start looking
- into the copyright stuff, as well as a site to put them on.
-
- Either e-mail or followups here will do.
