- If I issue several print requests via 'lp', I get the following mail
- message sent to root.
-
- The first couple jobs print, then the printer stops, then starts up a
- few minutes later. Print jobs are supposed to spool, one after each
- other. I am running AT&T 386 Unix SVr3.1 and an IBM Proprinter II.
-
- How do I fix this? Where do I look?
-

- Subject: Problem with printer printer
-
- The printer printer has stopped printing for the reason given below.
- Fix the problem and bring the printer back on line.
- Printing has stopped, but will be restarted in a few minutes;
- issue an enable command if you want to restart sooner.
- Unless someone issues a change request
-
- lp -i printer-1315 -P ...
-
- to change the page list to print, the current request will be reprinted from
- the beginning.
-
- The reason(s) it stopped (multiple reasons indicate repeated attempts):
-
- Failed to open the printer port.
- (Device busy)
