- I am impressed! I always seem to get bogged down by slow drive I/O
- before I get close to using much of the cpu...

- I sympathize. My office looks like mission control too. (Of course, I
- LIKE that...)

-
- Well, I can think of at least two ways off hand.
-
- Method 1) Connect the console port of the 310 to a port on annother
- machine (the 400, say) and on the 400 run a process that simply logs all
- data from that port to a file. This gives you the added advantage of being
- able to see console messages in case something goes wrong.
-
- IF you want to get fancy, you can even set this up so that you can log in
- that way too, from annother terminal on the other machine.
-
- Method 2) You can get a few short pieces of wire and an RJ-45 modular plug,
- borrow a crimp too, and make a dummy plug that ties the lines together to
- fool the 310 into thinking there's a terminal there.
-
- Advantage, it's REALLY simple, and doesn't tie up a serial port on
- annother machine.
-
- Disadvantage: You will never see console messages, so you have no
- warnings for potential failures...
