- * Fair Dinkum Technologies Press Release 9/1/92 *
- * *
- ******************************************************************************
-
- Fair Dinkum Technologies is proud to announce the immediate availability of:
-
- ****************************************
- * CyberDrome -- The Hoverjet Simulator *
- * *
- * for Atari ST/STe/TT computers *
- ****************************************
-
- CyberDrome is a new strategy arcade simulation developed by the wizards at
- RHEA-FX, innovators of multi-player/multi-system computer games and simulations
- and is marketed worldwide exclusively by Fair Dinkum Technologies.
-
- The CyberDrome Universe:
- -----------------------
- CyberDrome is the name of a Virtual Universe which exists inside of a permanent
- computer memory matrix designed to "grow" Artificial Life programs. Originally
- intended to be a place for humans to interact peacefully with programs and data
- via Virtual Reality simulators, it is now under attack by self-regenerating,
- virus-infected programs controlled by a roque Artificial Intelligence system
- called CJER (pronounced "Cee-Jer"). CJER has spawned its own army of attack
- programs which have spread throughout the Matrix, destroying or capturing every
- byte of data they come into contact with. Years of research and billions of
- dollars worth of data are at risk of being destroyed by CJER's hungry forces.
-
- To control CJER's army, the CyberForce Academy was instituted and the HoverJet
- virtual-reality fighter-simulator was developed. Designed for speed as well as
- heavy combat, the HoverJet allows Cybernauts from the Academy to interface
- directly with the CyberDrome universe and actually "move" from point to point
- along CyberDrome's expansive Memory Grid. Searching out the lairs of the virus-
- infected programs hidden in the vast maze of tunnels known as Memory Mines,
- Cybernauts strive to locate and delete these attack programs before they manage
- to break out of the quarantine area known as the IPZ (Infected Program Zone).
-
- But CJER is incredibly intelligent and is learning the Cybernauts' tactics while
- his forces are growing steadily. Without the aid of hundreds more trained and
- qualified Cybernauts, CJER's army is sure to break through the IPZ and capture
- permanent control of all of CyberDrome.
-
- The CyberDrome Simulation:
- -------------------------
- The CyberDrome Hoverjet Simulator is a real-time interactive training simulation
- designed to hone those skills required to operate a Hoverjet construct as well
- as fight intelligent attack programs. These skills are not found in everyone,
- however, and it is hoped that through personal computer based simulators like
- this one, future pilots can train at home, and perhaps one day be selected to
- join the ranks of the CyberForce.
-
- Features:
- --------
-
- * CyberDrome is unique in that it combines the realism of a real-time, 3-D
- flight simulator in a Virtual Reality environment with arcade action along
- with the problem solving requirements of a dungeon type strategy game.
-
- * Not only does CyberDrome offer the usual single player mode, it also provides
- a unique 2-player/2-computer mode (using a serial cable or 2 modems) whereby
- two players operate as a team. During this mode, players actually view the
- movements and actions of their partner through the viewports of the highly
- realistic cockpit of their own Hoverjet. Communication between players i
- also enhanced via both Direct and Quick-Comm Message systems.
-
- * Unlike many other simulations, all elements of CyberDrome's single-player
- mode are also active in the 2-player/2-computer version.
-
- * CyberDrome is being developed for multiple computer platforms, all of which
- will be link compatible with the Atari ST 2-player/2-computer version (i.e.,
- a user with an Atari ST could play a CyberDrome game with an IBM PC user).
-
- * Also included is a special 2-player competition mode designed to increase
- your skills as a Hoverjet pilot.
-
- * Six increasingly difficult mission levels are included plus a special
- training mission level for beginning pilots.
-
- * Official CyberForce ranks are awarded to players for successful completion
- of each mission level.
-
- * Additional mission disks and Memory Mine maps will soon be available
- separately for extended CyberDrome play.
-
- * Only a select few will ever successfully complete CyberDrome's difficult
- Mission Level 6. For the first ten registered users that do, however,
- their efforts will be awarded with a limited edition "CyberDrome Racing
- Team Champion" T-shirt! Specific contest details available upon request.
-
-
- Perhaps the Cybernaut motto best summarizes the world of CyberDrome:
-
- When your nightmares become your reality, try telling yourself...
-
- "IT'S ONLY A GAME!"
