  10. Since the Falcon030 has attracted interest in the Audio field, I would advice
  11. any programmer planning on releasing Falcon030 Audio Software to read the "Dr.
  12. Dobb's Journal" July 1992 issue where John W. Ratcliff proposes a compression
  13. algorithm called "ACOMP" that yields better than 6:1 compression on human
  14. voice, and between 1.5:1 to 3:1 on music, while maintaining almost full
  15. fidelity. With the implementation of the DSP, this algorithm can be enchanced
  16. in order to speed-up the process, which is a very processor intensive one.

  18. The algorithm incorporates two techniques, which are silence encoding and
  19. delta modulation. The entire algorithm source code in Assembly is included
  20. (for the Intel processors). This can be used not only for the Falcon030 but
  21. also the other line of Atari computers such as the (M)ST(E), and the TT.
