  20.     Bell 103:300bps standard, promoted by (guess who) the old monopolistic

  22.     Bell 212A:1200 bps standard, promoted by Bell

  25.     V.22: 1200 bps standard (CCITT).
  26.     V.22bis: 2400 bps standard (CCITT)
  27.     V.32: 9600 bps standard (CCITT)
  28.     V.32bis: 12k-14.4k bps standard (CCITT)
  29.     V.42: This is a protocol for error detection(correction?).
  30.     V.42bis: This is a protocol for error detection AND compression (real-
  31.          world results should be around 4X compression on uncompressed
  32.          data).

  34.     MNP1-3: No idea.  These are standards promoted by Microcom (Microcom 
  35.         Network Protocols).  I would imagine MNP1-3 are equivalents
  36.         (BUT DIFFERENT) of V.21-V.22bis.
  37.      MNP4: This is a protocol for error detection(correction?).
  38.     MNP5: This is the Microcom protocol for compressed communications. Real
  39.           World results are about 2X compression for uncompressed data.
  40.     MNP10:  This is a standard for communicating over Cellular lines.

  42.     Well, I know I missed some V.[something]ter in the V series, but I 
  43. don't remember which ones, let alone what they are for (well, one is probably
  44. for cellular comm.).
