- I'm reading three German mags; ST Magazine, ST Computer and TOS regularly and
- are planning to subscribe to the first two.
- Hopefully others find this info useful...
- ---
- ST MAGAZINE
- 150 pages+, stapled, very thin paper, 12 issues a year
- Centered around hard- and software reviews, features a magazine-in-the-magazine
- called Cicero which is a DTP mag by Calamus makers DMC (very ineresting if
- you're into publishing and design), DIY projects. Not too much for developers,
- but a few topics are discussed each issue with listings etc.
- Shop price: DM 7,-
- Sub. price: DM 77,-
- DM 65,- for students (add a copy of your student card)
- NOTE: I don't know if this works outside Germany...
- Mail rates: Add DM 18 if in Europe, DM 38,- for AirMail to the US, DM 68,-
- if you have a kangaroo for a neighbour...
- Address:
- Markt & Technik Verlag AG
- ST MAGAZIN Leserservice
- Hans-Pinsel-Str. 2
- 8013 Haar bei Munchen
- Germany
- ----
- ST COMPUTER
- around 200 pages, squarebound, sturdier paper than STM, 11 issues a year
- A developers dream in terms of featured material for programmers, few but
- thorough reviews each issue, lots of text to read (My fave mag - i like to
- read), projects.
- Shop price: DM 8,-
- Sub. price: DM 80,- in Germany
- DM 100,- in Europe (Add DM 30,- for Airmail)
- No prices for US or other regions
- Address:
- Heim Fachverlag
- Heidelberger Landstr. 194
- 6100 Darmstadt 13
- Germany
- ---
- TOS
- around 150 pages, swuarebound, best paperq. of the three, very nice design,
- 12 issuea a year (I think). Comes with a disk full of useful stuff like
- demos of commercial software, sourcecode, PD utilities etc...
- I think this mag is both technical and business orientated, with many reviews
- and topics discussed, listings etc., but it has too short articles. It has a
- VERY good design and layout which is easy and comfortable to read but the
- articles leaves something to be desired. It's expensive as well, due to the
- high quality printing and the disk. I buy it occasionally (when someone I know
- is in Germany...)
- Shop Price: DM 15,-
- Sub. Price: DM 152,- (DM 129,- for students)
- No info given for additional costs outside Germany.
- Address:
- ICP Verlag GmbH & Co. KG (What a name...)
- Leserservice TOS
- Innere-Cramer-Klett-Str. 6
- 8500 Nurnberg 1
- Germany
- ---
- My personal recommendation is ST COMPUTER. Dull layout, but LOTS to read.
- ST MAGAZINE is cheaper and fancier, but might disappoint programmers.
- As far as I know for scandinavians, ST MAGAZINE is available at Pressbyraan
- in Sweden and should be available in Finland. I think I've found it in Denmark
- as well.
