- I can't claim to have much understanding of this matter of my
- own, but this is exactly what was said at the Falcon show at the
- Atari Messe (done by the "grandpa" someone was sneering at
- recently). He said the DSP has 96 KB of SRAM memory of its own
- that can be loaded with any program. MultiTOS, he added, would
- supply routines for entering programs for the DSP into a queue.
- As examples for using this feature, he mentioned the use of the
- DSP as a modem, a fax, or an answering machine. Regarding the
- baud rates that could be done with the "DSP modem", I'd assume
- that, since the DSP runs at 32 Mhz, the quality of the phone
- lines will normally be limiting the transmission speed rather
- than the DSP's capabilities.

- DSP programs will have to be in the DSP's machine code (just as
- things work with any processor). But as mentioned above, it seems
- that it is possible to run any DSP program. If I remember that
- correctly, in the c't article on the Falcon (in the september
- issue) they were reasoning that using the DSP for
- packing/unpacking various compressed graphics formats would be a
- possible use.
- So, to run non-DSP programs on the DSP, one might think of
- writing DSP program that emulates another processor... maybe a
- 6502 emulator :-)
