  31. I think the reason is simply that there wouldn't be enough traffic.
  32. Look at the Atari Archive FTP site.  How many 8-bit uploads are there a
  33. month?  An average of maybe 3 or 4?
  34.  
  35. Granted not all, but MOST everybody reading this group can get at the 
  36. atari.archive either by FTP or by e-mail with BART.  Those people that 
  37. can do nothing but read News are welcome to post binaries here, but 
  38. unfortunately cannot retrieve files from the Archive.

  40. Combine this information with the fact that comp.sys.atari.8bit doubles
  41. as the Info-Atari8 Digest mailing-list, where subscribers grumble when
  42. their mailboxes overflow with oversized Digests containing huge binaries,
  43. and hopefully you see why we use the atari.archive instead of a
  44. comp.binaries group.
