- To answer your question, yes you need a controller with a SCSI
- drive but you NEED the drive WITHOUT the imbedded controller.
- Just about all the new drives have imbedded controllers.
- Last year I put a hard drive on my 1 meg MIO. Heres what I did.
- I bought a used RLL 30meg HD Seagate ST238 (They still sell these
- refurbished). (the drive cost me $75). Then I sent to CCS (Bob
- Puff) and bought an Adaptec ACB-4070 RLL controller ($125). Bob sent
- me the cables for $5. Then I bought an IBM minitower to house
- this thing in...all the hardware, nuts, bolts everything came
- with the minitower, 200w power supply and everything for $67.
- (Now I'm putting 3 1/2" drives in thar too.) Everything just
- plugs right in! On the disk I got with the MIO was the program
- to format the drive and the only drive that has a PARK program
- is on the disk too and it is for that RLL drive.
- If you bought a MIO the docs on it and the controller are
- invaluable! Follow these closely.
