- Here's the rest of that article from MacWeek for clarity.
- Students give Apple high marks,
- but administrators stick with IBM.

-
- Cupertino, Calif. - Despite winning the hearts and minds of students and faculty -
- and thus the lionUs share of the education market - Apple has yet to make significant inroads
- among the nationUs school administrators.
-
- Apple officials claim that sales of its products into the education market
- accounted for more than half of Apple USAUs fiscal 1991 revenues, or about 1.6 billion.
-
- However, while Apple dominated the K-12 segment during the 1991-92 school
- year with more than 65 percent of the market and had a 35 percent slice of the higher
- education pie, it is struggling to attract education administrators away from IBM Corp.,
- which is entrenched at the enterprise level, according to information compiled by
- Quality Education Data, Inc. of Denver.
-
- So far, AppleUs push into the educational arena has been mostly through
- low end systems, such as the popular Macintosh LC II. The companyUs early success in the
- K-12 market was spurred by the Apple II, which now has an installed base of more than
- 3.5 million users according to Apple.
-
- Now Apple is attempting to migrate those Apple II users to the LC II.
- And it seems to be working - about 90 percent of the machines sold into that
- market during AppleUs fiscal 1991 year were Macintoshes, QED said.
-
- Dan Ness, senior analyst for Computer Intelligence Inc.,
- a market research company based in La Jolla, Calif., estimates that
- four out of 10 computers sold into the K-12 market are from Apple.
