- The MFS os! MFS was the filing system used on the Mac before HFS was invented.
- You can read these files using an old _Applesoft BASIC_ (!!) program called
- MacTransGS, which simply did block reads and wrote the data out in ProDOS file
- format.
-
- The differences vastly outweigh the similarities, so it would be more than a
- matter of just 'tweaking' the HFS FST to get an MFS FST, although I would
- think that a read-only MFS FST could be put together reasonably easily. Maybe
- a third party could write one, when (if) Apple releases the FST specs, as
- they have suggested _might_ happen if Greg Branche successfully writes his
- MS-DOS FST without having to force any mods to the rest of the OS. To date
- (and he has a working version!), he hasn't had to hit the rest of the OS.
