- Do you mean an Apple 3.5 connected to a PC Transporter? Finder
- certainly doesn't recognise MS-DOS volumes in a 3.5" drive connected to
- the IIgs drive port. It DOES recognise them in a SuperDrive with the
- Apple 3.5 Disk Controller Card.
-
- I don't use the Apple 3.5 with my PCT, since I have a SuperDrive card.
- It was so slow accessing 800k disks through the PCT that I never
- enabled the drive.
-
- The PC Transporter goes to a lot of trouble to get the Apple 3.5 Drive
- to access MS-DOS disks, but it can't do it perfectly (e.g. a disk
- formatted on the Apple 3.5 Drive cannot be read on most real PCs).

-
- Not too hard for APPLE to do, just too hard to support in GS/OS. The
- best way to do it would be to allow a device driver to perform GS/OS
- calls (via another file system). Since GS/OS isn't re-entrant, this
- is not possible.
-
- This is an ideal area for third-party utilities to deal with (it just
- can't be done transparently).
-
- [Ah, the old "it can't be done" statement. I'm just waiting for
- someone to prove me wrong...] :-)
