- : I have some related questions, myself. I just acquired a 9600 v32/v42.bis
- : external modem. (CPI's Viva 9600). I've gotten it to work adequately with
- : my pc, but its main job in life is on my //GS, and my BBS. I'm still back
- : in the dark ages, softwarewise: I run Macos, and like it.
- :
- : By carefully shutting off all special features of the modem, I've gotten
- : it to accept connections at 2400. Today I managed to get a plain 9600
- : connection from work, but that may have been a fluke. I've been using the
- : ACOS cable, but also acquired/tried a regular cable, which it didn't like
- : at all. No sweat.
- :
- : I need general info and advice on getting it to answer in error-correction
- : mode, at 14,400 bps. If it takes an SSC instead of the modem port, well, I
- : have an SSC but hate to do that, what with the keypresses needed for it to
- : autobaud. If that's the only way, though...(shrug) Has anyone been
- : through this before? Any advice/info/driver-updates-I-don't-know-about?

- First, I want to say a big "Thank-You" to Todd Whitesel (Todd, are you
- there?) for giving me the cable pinouts. I've finally managed to get my
- Best 14496 modem working on my Apple IIGS!! It runs at practically any
- baud rate from 2400 to 14400 with v.42 and MNP5 enabled, giving it
- effective rates of 19200 and more.
-
- I had the same problems as you did in getting the high-speed modem to
- work. You at least managed to get yours working at 2400; mine wouldn't
- work at all previously. All I did was to get a new cable configured and
- that solved all my problems.
