- Ok, here is my problem. I have a 170 MEG scsi hard drive with an Apple ][ High
- speed scsi card. One of my partitions i use for storing all of my archives has
- developed some bad blocks. So i re-formatted it (using the finder). The bad
- block count went down to 9 (it was in the high teens before reformatting).
- I used Prosel to put all the bad blocks into a bad block file. That was ok. The
- thing that is worring me is that every time i check for bad blocks, I get a
- different number. On average it's 8, but it can be anything from 7-10. Most of
- the block numbers are the same, but there are some that appear only sometimes.
- This this mean my drive is rooted? Or the Finder isn't scanning properly every
- time.
-
- The drive is new, and I could get it replaced. When the drive was origonally
- partitiond (with ADU), there were NO bad blocks anywhere. That is, all of the
- bad blocks appeared after all my software was put on it. (The only thing that
- writes to the partition is Proterm 3. I don't think that this has caused the
- bad blocks.) So what should I do? Return the drive, or "It's just one of those
- things"?
