  12. There is a DN3500 at our site running SR10.2 which was recently moved
  13. behind a PC running Van Morrison's PCROUTE.  The subnet behind the
  14. PCROUTER is shared by the DN3500 and an HP320 running HP/UX B.08.00.

  16. The DN3500 used to use an HP Unix box as a router, with no problems.
  17. However, since the PCROUTER replaced the HP (which has since changed
  18. addresses; both machines have been rebooted several times since the change),
  19. telnet, rlogin, ftp connections etc. from the DN3500 to ANY machine outside
  20. of the local subnet fail after 20 seconds or so with "connection closed by
  21. foreign host".  Remote machines can be Suns, DECS, HP's or whatever, and can
  22. be on the UNR network or anywhere else on the Internet.

  24. Eavesdropping from a third machine via etherfind on conversations between
  25. the DN3500 and machines elsewhere shows that remote hosts are, for
  26. reasons that aren't clear, sending a TCP FIN signal to the DN3500.
  27. Connections between the DN3500 and the HP that shares its subnet, and
  28. from the HP to other machines and other networks, don't seem to have
  29. any problems that we can detect.
