- Not that I want to put anyone down or anything. But Commodore has officially
- pronounced Kickstart/Workbench 1.3 DEAD a long time ago. I think that as
- soon as a new version of Kickstart/Workbench is released, that developers
- should have new products out that take advantage of the new OS. I don't
- want bigger and possibly slower and less powerful programs because
- developers don't think enough people are running 2.0.
- Maybe they feel there is no reason to upgrade (I don't know how) but
- if a program comes out that they want and it is 2.x (or maybe 3.x) and up
- maybe they will upgrade. When Windows 3.1 (although not an OS) came out
- there were many program updates to take advantage of its new features.
- By the time most of the developers make programs for 2.04, 2.1 will
- be out (probably on Sept 12), and 3.x will be very close, it is now
- at least version 39.97.
- So all in all, I would just like to ask developers to develop for
- the current most powerful version of the OS. This includes using the asl
- requesters (font, screenmode, pallette?), dos pattern matching, public screens.
- commodites, etc. I am sick of having to save my arp.library for a few old
- programs, and some of them aren't that old. Wouldn't a Style Guide
- compliant DPaint and Profession Page/Draw be nice? Also how about
- support for Softlogik's HotLinks? ProWrite 3.3 will have it.
-
- Thank you (I hope)
