- Really? Not to doubt you, but I have yet to see a IBM-type HD drive
- whose disk motor is controllable externally, other than On and Off. They
- always spin at the same rate for both normal and high-density modes,
- unlike Commodore's Amiga HD drive. IBM types just adjust their head
- recording/playback signals depending on the mode.

- Older Macintosh drives did have variable rotation speeds that were
- controlled by software, but newer (non-super)drives determine the
- rotation speed themselves.

- and are compatible with existing Amiga systems...
