  21. Really?  Not to doubt you, but I have yet to see a IBM-type HD drive
  22. whose disk motor is controllable externally, other than On and Off.  They
  23. always spin at the same rate for both normal and high-density modes,
  24. unlike Commodore's Amiga HD drive.  IBM types just adjust their head
  25. recording/playback signals depending on the mode.

  27. Older Macintosh drives did have variable rotation speeds that were
  28. controlled by software, but newer (non-super)drives determine the
  29. rotation speed themselves.

  38. and are compatible with existing Amiga systems...
