- Darin, QuarterBack Tools does just that (and that's the only reason I still
- use it). It will search for bad blocks and kinda-sorta overwrite them with
- a non-deleteable file. The drawback here is that you can't optimize a disk
- using this kind of protection (but it beats not using it at all, eh?).
