- That sounds very similar to a problem I have had on my HD. What kind of
- controller are you using? Mine was an A2090 and the problem manifested
- itself as files all over the disk being randomly corrupted (they were still the
- same length as the original files, but they contained garbage). I switched to
- a new disk, but it has thermal problems (it starts going bad after a period
- from 1 hour to several days) and I will have to switch back to my old
- controller and drive. I heard rumors on the net that 2.04 was not compatible
- with the old A2090. I heard this rumor denied once, but never officially. It
- would be strange if C='s own board was not compatible with their own operating
- system! (I was once in EMAIL correspondence with a C= engineer (Dave H), who
- suddenly stopped answering my letters when I asked him about this. Hmmmm....
- :-) ) Anyway, I know that several HD interface cards require upgrades for use
- with 2.0 (at least of their driver software). If you have a 3rd party
- controller board, try calling the manufacturer about an upgrade - you probably
- need it. If you have a C= board... well, try a local dealer and enjoy the
- runaround as every person from every store gives you a different "official"
- answer to your problem.
-
- Good luck. I have been without a reliable HD since April, and for the first
- time in my life I am getting sick of dealing with computers (the horror! :-) )
