- I just received a Supra FAXModem (v.32bis version) and am having NO end to
- troubles involving connecting to other systems. When using 'normal' mode
- (no flow control, data compression) and at 2400 baud, I can get this beast
- to act like my old 2400 Supra modem. Good 'nuff. However, the ONLY other
- system I have been able to connect to at a higher rate is Supra's Tech
- support BBS (managed to get a 14.4K connection somehow) using the &f2 setting.
- All other attempts to connect to other systems lead to one of the following:
-
- 1.) Garbage on the screen.
- 2.) More commonly, a bit of normal text from the connected system,
- then the screen and modem lock up - characters typed in are
- seemingly not transmitted, and no further action is received
- from the other system. This is usually preceeded by the text
- output becoming 'jerky' on the screen.
- 3.) Connections at slower speeds while using the &f2 (or &f1)
- factory settings (with CTS/RTS flow control, etc) usually
- result in jerky output from the connected system to the
- terminal.
-
- Does anyone have some good advice for this little monstrosity? Decent
- command settings or ideas? Thanks in advance.
