- I tried out a Virtual Reality program that was run on IBM's. It required an
- IBM with the Dos Extender package and something called Other Worlds Toolkit. It
- was running on a 486 with 2 super vga cards connected to the visor to create the
- stereo scopic images. It had no sound that I could tell except for a an audio
- tape playing music (yay!).
-
- The setup allowed for networking so several people could adventure, and I was
- impressed by the speed and the texture mapped graphics. (it wasn't just a
- vector polygon program)
-
- I'm a proud Amiga owner but if we are ever to catch up its going to take more
- than an 80,000$ package called Virtuality. I think this system could be
- purchased for ALOT less than 80,000$ and it is programmable so you can make
- your own areas and games. I remember asking how much it would cost to own a
- system like that and I remember getting a figure of around 15,000$. I might
- be wrong, but it wasn't totally unreasonable like 80,000$ It sounds like those
- people are really trying to rip off arcade owners.
