- I posted a problem a few days ago where I stated my Quantum Pro
- 210 drive would randomly get a 'read error', which always went
- away on retry. It is now solved.
-
- The other day I was getting a LOT of inexplicable crashes [CED
- just does not crash for no reason!], and I finally threw my hands
- up in despair and reached for the avenging screwdriver!
-
- [Never trust a programmer with a screwdriver in his mitt!]
-
- Opened up the A2500, and disconnected the shonky homebrew leads
- to my GVP A3001 disable jumper pins, and whilst I was at it,
- checked out the Quantum drive.
-
- The SCSI cable was loose.
-
- I re-seated the cable, put the machine back together, and haven't
- had a problem since.
-
- I ran Quarterback Tools on the drive, and defragmented it, and
- got a diskspeed increase from the pre-defrag 400-500K/sec to
- 1.3Mbytes/sec. :-)
-
- Oh how I like it when my problems depart.
