- I must join in the "Struck by Lighning" Club ... In my case I had a full
- lighting arrestor electric hookup (including the phone line), so that
- saved the modem -the whole phone system was not so lucky- BUT the A3000
- started to act weird regarding the serial port. At first I blamed the
- modem but then I found out that the serial videotape deck controller was
- not working also (I have an A/B switch box so both can share the one an
- only serial port) so I changed the CIA and still the serial port would
- work for just a little time.
-
- I called my C= dealer and he arreanged a CPU swap because I was still on
- warranty zone. He sent the A3000 (CPU only) UPS red and got a new one
- (same case, brand new motherboard 8-) in three days, just paid shipping
- expenses which the insurance company paid (grin).
-
- If you are under warranty or have insurance against lightning call your
- dealer or C= directly. If not I still would go for an authorized repair
- center, an A3000 is a pice of hardware to be taken seriously. It's worth
- the repair cost and the assurance that is going to work in the future,
- maybe under a brand new warranty.
