- I wrote Calligrapher V1.05... it's still an amazing program even after all
- these years.
-
-
- Anyway, I haven't seen it but a program called something like "fontworks"
- by a company called ACM (the same people who wrote deluxe productions for
- EA) is supposed to convert whole digitized pictures into fonts easily.
-
-
- This (among other things) was what I had in mind for Calligrapher II (which
- never got off the ground). It's a shame that the president of Interactive
- Softworks disagreed with me on spending ANY money on R&D. He was content to
- spend large sums of money on "artists" to create fonts for him, but never
- wanted to upgrade the software.
-
- As a side note, he actually paid me to make a stripped-down version of
- Calligrapher (jr, as I called it). It had everything that the real one had,
- except it had a different way of doing transformations. It was going to
- sell for half-price (back when Caligrapher still cost $100 or so). It never
- sold in stores tho... in fact, I think I have the only copy of it!
-
- I had grand schemes for good 'ol Calligrapher: 64 color fonts, new intuition
- interface (I think the way it looks now is UGLY), faster effects, new
- effects, etc. Oh well, that was a long time ago now... time to move on.
-
- I know this really didn't help, but I thought a few people out there might
- be interested in some of the history behind the program.
