- Basically correct. Technically, RenderMan is nothing more than a
- specification, "a scene description methodology". What is desireable
- is for current and future 3D applications to produce RenderMan compliant
- scene descriptions and for there to exist rendering engines that accept
- these descriptions. The aforementioned rendering engines may or may not
- be part of the originating application and may have hardware assistance
- or even run on another (presumeably faster) platform. A simple port of
- PhotoRealistic RenderMan as it exists on the Mac would be both dissapointing
- and insufficient for the total solution.
