- Well, the rumor is less than accurate. Some companies are pulling back form t
- Amiga and not porting everything over as they once did. SSI is an example; th
- will now do conversions on a case-by-case basis. Origin is not a good example
- they have recently released Ultima VI, plan to release Wing Commander in Euro
- in September (which would put US release around Christmas) and are in talks
- with UK Mindscape for conversions of Savage Empire and Martian Dreams.
- They've also announced plans for Wing Commander II. Beyond that is a rumored
- but unconfirmed conversion of Ultima Underworlds.
- I think, in a sense, this rretrenchment is a natural consequence of the
- Amy's niche status -- 3.5 million beside a gamers PC market (not all PCs are
- game PCs) of ... say, 15-20 million.
-
- No, it's not time to bail. It *is* however time to keep a livelier eye on
- the European scene, as more and more games will come from there (the
- majority already do, in fact).
