- ----------------------------BFJ Update1.0----------------------------------
- 9/3/92
-
- The net has been screaming over BFJ enterprises for the last few
- weeks. Since I live very close to their retail outlet and I have dealt
- with them for many years I will attempt to keep everyone else on the net
- up to date on what their situation is.
-
- My Background:
-
- I am a student at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. My home is in
- Marietta, about 10 miles from BFJ Enterprises retail store. I have lived
- in Georgia for the past 11 years and I have dealt with BFJ for at least
- the last seven. I have bought two computers and countless programs from
- BFJ.
-
- BFJ's Background:
-
- I have been dealing with BFJ for many years. My receipts date back
- to 1985 at least. I have always known BFJ as a family run company with
- excellent service. The people there have always been knowledgeable and
- willing to talk to a customer. They are a small, family run company in a
- tiny store in an old mall. I have seen dozens of business go under in
- this area with the exception being BFJ. What they lack in size they make
- up for in sincerity. I have NEVER had a problem with BFJ that they could
- not resolve with one phone call or meeting.
-
- What I know:
-
- 1. BFJ Enterprises stopped answering the phone in mid-August. Calling
- the number (404-998-8251) now results in a message saying that the
- number has been "temporarily disconnected"
-
- 2. When I went by the retail store Friday, August 21 there was a sign
- on the door that said "Closed for 2 weeks for remodeling". The
- store still had items on the shelves and several computers visible.
-
- 3. When I went by the store on Wednesday, September 2 the sign was
- still on the door. The computers had been taken out but the
- software was still on the shelves and the back room had merchandise
- in it.
-
- What I want to know:
-
- 1. What is Jeff Weiss address on Internet? Their price lists have an
- internet address a Portal and a CompuServe address on them. If
- someone could mail them to me at gt4476a@prism.gatech.edu it would
- help a lot.
-
- 2. Is there someone out there on CompuServe who could send a small note
- to Jeff from me? Mail me if this is possible, please.
-
- 3. What is the last date someone spoke with BFJ? I believe someone
- said that they called in early August. IF YOU HAVE COMMUNICATED
- WITH BFJ *AFTER* AUGUST 7, 1992 PLEASE MAIL ME.
-
- 4. Does anyone know more than me? I mean concrete facts. I have heard
- enough rumors locally ranging from everyone skipping the country to
- Jeff's parents dying to bankruptcy.
-
- 5. Is there anywhere else I should post this? I am currently sending
- it out to comp.sys.amiga.datacomm and comp.dcom.modems.
-
- Thank you for your time. I can be reached at gt4476a@prism.gatech.edu
-
- -------------------NOTE FOR COMP.SYS.DCOMM.MODEMS:------------------------
- Sorry if this is redundant, annoying or ignorant. I did not know
- that there was a BFJ discussion in this newsgroup. Someone told me that
- their was a BFJ thread here too. I will be reading it from now on.
