- Face nothing, so long as there are people who want to push data as fast
- as possible, the HST will find a home. Even in the PeeCee domain where there
- are a plethora of widespread full-duplex protocols available, the 16.8k Dual
- is being used simply because a majority of file transfers are unidirectional,
- or close to it based on the size ratios.
-
- The only major exception to this rule are the backboned sites within
- Fidonet and other networks, those are closer to a primarily bidirectional
- transfer situation, but they still feed net hubs that are not.
-
- The HST may no longer rule the roost as it once did, but it's nowhere's
- near death so long as USR can push the speed up above the current CCITT
- blessed protocols.
