- I was having a similar problem with Music-X until I found a
- solution. On the FILTERS page, there is a gadget labeled "RE-OUT",
- which is turned on by default. (A bad move by Microillusions.) This
- causes your incoming MIDI data to be echoed to the Amiga's MIDI out.
- In other words, when you play, extra data is being sent to the instrument
- you are playing. All my "spurious note" problems disappeared when I
- turned off RE-OUT. Could this possibly be the problem you saw?

-
- Yes, the librarian has numerous and does cause transmission errors.
- (A pity, since the specification itself is quite nice, except for the stupid
- 16-patch-per-library limit. I've written numerous Music-X patch protocols
- with very little effort.) To be fair, though, I have written my own MIDI
- librarian utility, using Commodore's official recommended "read the serial
- port" algorithm, and my own code *still* loses bytes of incoming system
- exclusive data. This was on an A1000 with MIDI Gold interface. I haven't
- done extensive testing on the A3000T yet. Some people blame serial.device
- for this. I dunno.
-

- >Micro'sIllusion outfit - they blew me off completely after that episode.
-
- I believe the company has been bought out at least once and
- undergone internal political turmoil. This is not an excuse -- just an
- observation.
-
- The company definitely sucks when it comes to updates, though.
- No updates in 3 years is totally stupid.
-
- I look forward to Music-X 2.0. If it repeats the problems of
- its older version, then I'll be pretty pissed.
