- With all the talk about GNU-emacs that was taking place in
- c.s.a.programmer, and since Mike has indicated he's dropping support
- for mg3beta4, I figured that I owed it to myself to check out
- GNU-emacs for myself. After poking about a bit it seemed to me that
- David Gay's amiga version 1.25 was the latest so I FTPed a copy of
- emacs-18.58-Amiga-1.25-bin.lha...
-
- First reaction: Nice! Performs reasonably well even on my anemic
- 68000-based B2000. I could live with this even though it's kinda
- large...
-
- But I noticed rather quickly that this port suffers from a couple of
- problems. First, each invocation appears to eat 64 bytes of memory.
- And when emacs is shut down, it leaves an outstanding lock on
- gnuemacs:.
-
- Anybody else noticed this? What do you do about it? (Er, besides
- simply starting emacs once per session :-) Perhaps David's released
- a patch?
