- But "ls" is a lot less typing than "DIRECTORY"...

- You must remember that UNIX was designed as a user friendly operating
- system - people who worked 8 days a week, 25 hours a day, didn't have
- time to type more characters than they had too. Especially using
- Teletypes at 10, or less, characters per second. They also had a
- sense of humour.
