  13. The SEI has drafted a revised version of the Capability Maturity Model (v1.01)
  14. based on change requests and CMM Workshop feedback.  The CMM drafts are
  15. available by anonymous ftp if you would like to review these drafts and
  16. tell us whether we have adequately addressed your concerns.  (Most of them
  17. anyway, there are a couple that will probably be put out on Monday.)

  19. This comment period will last until 11 September 1992.  We would like to have
  20. the comments in before the SEI Software Engineering Symposium.  Send your
  21. comments by e-mail to mcp@sei.cmu.edu or fax them to 412-268-5758.

  24. This is an opportunity for informal discussion; we do not plan to track the 
  25. comments formally or even acknowledge their receipt.  We would just like to 
  26. solicit your opinion on whether we have adequately addressed the issues raised
  27. during the commenting period.

  38. The instructions for obtaining the CMM V1.1 files are contained in READ.ME in 
  39. pub/cmm/v1.1.

  41. After CMM V1.01 is complete, we plan to do some pilot testing to check for any 
  42. continuing clarity issues.  The CMM Advisory Board will review CMM V1.01, 
  43. using comments from the CMM Correspondence Group reviewers and pilot test 
  44. feedback.  With their assistance, we will address any refinement and 
  45. integration issues and create CMM V1.02, which will go through our formal 
  46. approval process (internally, by our CMM Configuration Control Board and 
  47. Information Management group; externally, by the SEI Joint Program Office).  
  48. The approved version, with any necessary changes to CMM V1.02, will be 
  49. released as CMM V1.1 at the end of the year.

  51. Please note that the last items going into the review process will be the 
  52. glossary and the TR-25 Overview.  They will be reviewed later since they are 
  53. critically dependent on how issues are resolved in the key process areas.  
  54. They will probably be distributed near the end of September.

  56. Comments thus far have ranged from "don't change it" to "I actually prefer 
  57. the old version" (both in regard to the CMM v1.01 draft goals).  We will 
  58. continue to refine our revision effort based on the needs of the software 
  59. community; your comments can have a significant impact on how we proceed.
